Terms relating to the content

3.1 ACCEPTED CONTENT

The content found on Profweb consists of information relating to the integration of IT in an educational and learning context in the Quebec college network and respects the following principles:

  • Content follows Profweb’s Editorial Policy;
  • Content reflects the mission, achievements, products and services of partner organizations;
  • Content promotes the concept of one college network without comparing the two linguistic communities;
  • Content takes a pedagogical, non-commercial approach to commercial enterprises and products;
  • Content respects guidelines for the following sections: Columns, Stories and Reports.

In any case, Profweb and its partners are in no way responsible for content in articles or other documents.
All content published in Profweb is subject to its Editorial Policy.

Here is a brief overview of content presented in each section of the Profweb site:

ABOUT
This section contains specific information about Profweb under the following subcategories: What is Profweb?, Editorial Policy, Guided Tour (under development), Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), identification of members of the Profweb team and information about license conditions for reuse.
BANNER The banner generally consists of an image related to the current column. There can be a link to a particular site or to a document providing more complete information about the subject of the image.
COLUMN This section consists of an editorial space reserved for the Coordinator or a Collaborator  to broadcast information relating to IT integration in college pedagogy.
EVENTS Events are usually reported by the event organizers or the professional development providers as soon as the date or dates of the event are known. Anyone may pass on information concerning an event or a professional development activity but, in the case of information not provided by a partner, it will first be validated by the Coordinator or a Collaborator responsible for this section.
HOT OFF THE PRESS This feature automatically identifies the latest contributions to the site.
NEWS
The news relating to IT integration in collegial pedagogy is chosen from the Bulletin of la Vitrine APO and is published on Profweb. The Coordinator or a Collaborator, may add news directly.
PERSONAL SPACE

This section of Profweb allows college teachers to do the following activities:

  • keep various resources (Web sites, software, reports, etc.) for pedagogical purposes on a dedicated server.
  • Refer an academic website hosted on a server other than that of Profweb.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT The partners and other authorized organizations may publish information regarding professional development activities relating to IT integration that may be of interest to the members of the collegial community. APOP is the partner mandated to manage the professional development section published in Profweb.
PROFWEB EXPRESSO This bulletin presents the new information and contributions of Profweb’s IT Partners. Subscriptions to Profwebexpresso can be made from the Profweb site. The bulleting is published weekly during the academic year.

REPORTS

This section contains reports on themes related to IT integration in college education. A report transmits an IT integration expertise developed in college teach and learning in Quebec.  A report may be put on-line at all times and the Coordinator, or a Collaborator in charge of that report, validates its content.

RESOURCES

The resources are extracted from Eurêka and are mainly derived from the Guide Internet et éducation, edited by La Vitrine Technologie-Éducation . Any person or group may suggest the addition of a Web site to Profweb that may be of interest to the collegial community. The suggestion form, found on La Vitrine Technologie-Éducation’s Web site, may be completed and sent, via Profweb, and La Vitrine Technologie-Éducation will then decide whether or not to add the suggested site to its current directory as indexed by Eurêka.

RSS FEED

This feature identifies RSS Feeds giving updated information in certain sections.

RSS PARTNERS

This feature identifies different sources of information created by the IT Partners for IT integration mastery. It is currently stocked by RSS feeds.

SAVOIRFAIRE TIC

A tool for teachers of the college network, SAVOIRFAIRE TIC allows users to evaluate their IT skills and to have access to resources and applications to reinforce those skills identified as weak.

SCENARIOS

The information found in this section is drawn from the partners’ Web sites who publish pedagogical scenarios. To publish a new scenario, two options are available: 1) Publish the scenario in the PerfecTIC database of the CCMD by completing the suggestion form available in Profweb for the CCDMD Web site. 2) Identify a scenario published on another Web site by completing a form on Eurêka.

3.2 REJECTED CONTENT

Any information violating human rights will be considered in breach of the Editorial Policy, including:

  • Any information which is racist, discriminatory, violent, or which supports ethnic division;
  • Any information which is hateful, insulting or defamatory;
  • Any sexist information.

Information that does not pertain to IT integration in a pedagogical context as outlined in the Editorial Policy, including advertising or commercial information will equally be rejected. The person or the group who has submitted any such text will be notified accordingly by e-mail.

3.3 RESPONSIBILITIES OF AUTHORS

Authors of any material submitted to or published on Profweb must identify themselves (name, institution, etc.).

Authors are solely and entirely responsible for the originality of the content they submit and, consequently, assume full responsibility for their publication.

3.4 RESPECT OF COPYRIGHT

Authors of columns9, reports or stories10 must attest that they have observed all copyright laws in their texts and cede copyright to Profweb. Authors will sign a contract to that effect with Profweb’s host college.

Profweb’s content is available through a Creative Commons contract under the following conditions.

  • Only content from Profweb’s columns, stories and reports is available under a Creative Commons license.
  • Profweb content distribution is limited and is for pedagogical purposes only.
  • All reproduction of information must mention the name of the author, the source and the year of publication.

3.5 QUALITY OF LANGUAGE

To be published on-line, a text has to be written in appropriate and comprehensible French or English, as the case may be. If not, the text will be returned to the author.
