Bridging Differences - The ACPQ Pedagogical Workshops

Monday April 14, 2014 - Benoit Bolduc - ACPQ The ACPQ invites all interested parties to participate in its 2014 Pedagogical Workshops to be held on May 26 and 27 at Manoir des Sablesin Magog with the theme Unir les différences or ‘Bridging Differences’. Thirty-four communications, mainly in French, will allow participants to explore the various means by which one can better adapt our institutions to the needs of our diverse student population.

There are a total of 128 workshops, including 5 major conferences, 2 round tables and 8 Rendez-vous all exploring the theme DARE. Innovation at the College Level. The symposium will be held on June 3, 4 and 5, 2014 at Collège Montmorency (the host college) and its neighbor, the Campus of the Université de Montréal in Laval. No fewer than 35 workshops dealing directly with the use of ICT in colleges will be presented.

VTE Partners with Mozilla Promoting Digital Badges in Education

Monday March 31, 2014 - Christophe Reverd - Vitrine technologie-éducation VTE (La Vitrine technologie-éducation) and Mozilla have joined forces to promote the use of badges in education in Quebec. These badges are online attestations of acquired skills. The VTE's Christophe Reverd provides detailed information about the badges, as well as information about other related initiatives currently used in the Quebec college network.

Monday March 24, 2014 - Mary Johnson - Vanier College Teachers in ECE programs often struggle to provide their students with examples of children engaged in naturally-occurring behaviours in child-care settings. The new CCDMD Infants & Toddlers website, with its user-friendly Search function, will allow teachers to access videos to demonstrate the goings-on in the infant and toddler rooms at 4 different child-care environments.

Pinterest in the College Network and your Classroom!

Sunday March 16, 2014 - Andrée Dagenais - Centre de documentation collégiale (CDC) - Isabelle Laplante - Centre de documentation collégiale (CDC) Isabelle Laplante and Andrée Dagenais, librarians at the CDC (Centre de documentation collégiale) present Pinterest, which is a social media that focuses on visual content. In the college system, several institutions and organizations including the CDC have begun to use Pinterest. This resource has great potential for teachers to use in their courses.

The LaSalle College Community of Practice - Active Learning for Everyone

Monday March 10, 2014 - Mathieu Lépine - Collège LaSalle Five teachers from LaSalle College (Montreal) have formed a Community of Practice on Active Learning to facilitate the establishment of a learning environment to foster the implementation of this pedagogical approach. At every meeting, one teacher will conduct a presentation or activity on their subject, followed by a related discussion. As suits the bilingual nature of LaSalle, the presentations are in either English or French, and comments are made in either language as well.

Profweb’s editorial team realizes that the issues discussed address a much larger community than those who were able to attend. This column seeks to make this information available to a wider audience.
