This is the ability to allow the use a personal space. Once a space is activated, a Basic Site is created and its description is entered on the List of Sites in the Personal Web Space. When deactivated, the listing is removed.
Basic Site
Following acceptance of an application for a Personal Web Space, a Basic Site is created. This site has a URL address, a title, a description and it is associated with a particular discipline or field of study.
Database
A database* is created upon activation of the Personal Web Space as well as the addition of a Subsite. It is possible to access these databases using Personal Web Space configuration settings (MySQL). Users are cautioned that configuring databases requires specialized knowledge. A chance adjustment can lead to software malfunction or data loss.
*Data, generally arranged in tables, in which information is organized according to criteria facilitating use. (translated from a definition supplied by the Office québécois de la langue française)
Discipline
In the discipline field, a maximum of three entries can be chosen from the pulldown list which contains the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport's official classifications. This choice will allow listings by discipline in the List of Sites. In this case only the first disicpline selected is consulted. The additional selections will be active in the 'Research by discipline' function.
FTP

Message Priority
In order to permit technical support to respond adequately to requests, each message is prioritized as low, normal, high or very high.
MySQL

Password (Space, FTP, MySQL)
The Password is an entry code created by a string of characters chosen by the user and used during the entry procedure to the Personal Web Space and associated features such as FTP and MySQL. Passwords to these elements can be identical.
Private Access

Public Access
Site access directly through a URL on the List of Sites in the Personal Web Space. Basic Sites are public at their creation.
Upon request by a user of the Personal Web Space, a Subsite can be created. It allows the installation of Suggested Applications. An Subsite is simply a sub-file of a Basic Site.
Using Settings for the Personal Web Space, it is possible to add one or several Subsites to the Basic Site by launching the automatic installation of one or several suggested applications:
Using the Applications Table, users can get an idea of the functions of each of these programs. Each installation becomes a Subsite and is listed as such in the List of Sites of the Personal Web Space.
The installation of other applications is permitted, but is limited by the space attributed to the user. Furthermore, the installation remains entirely the responsibility of the user and will not be supported by Profweb's technical services.
It is possible to add a site to the Personal Web Site with no hosted software.
Type of Support
It is possible to send a message to Profweb's technical support at any time. This support can be an installation request for suggested software or error notification.
