Active learning online in this Humanities course using blended learning requires a level of autonomy and commitment on the part of students, as well as a willingness to work collaboratively. There is little chance to simply receive information passively in class!

The effect that clickers have had on Edward Awad's teaching is profound. He can now spot problematic content areas and focus on topics where students need more attention. Also, without realizing it, he seems to have anticipated what is now being called the flipped classroom.

Kathryn Morrison got an opportunity to teach in an active learning classroom and found the difference unbelievable because as much as she tried to implement active learning in a traditional classroom, the structure of the room itself created logistics to overcome.

Rajesh Malik hasn’t let blindness interfere with his teaching. Prior to the age of computers and the internet, he used standard techniques of lecturing and showed videos on VHS, but as the computer took over classrooms, he used more multi-media devices and, of course computers. As well, certain software made his life easier.

James Laviolette has found his college's Smartboards amazingly user-friendly. Although many teachers use PowerPoints, after a semester of experimentation, he now mainly writes over Word documents. Unlike the traditional whiteboard, however, nothing is lost to students when he moves to the next panel.

Google Docs has been great little tool with important advantages for teaching business communication and group work in Michael Arscott's classes. Before the recent changes in Google's privacy policy, he felt comfortable to present this resource as a course requirement; now he's not so sure.

The authors decided to replace the traditional student books and grammar books used in their classes with material from the Net. All in all it was a wonderful experience in creativity, but because they ended up doing both the teaching and writing, time became an issue. Whether they repeat the experience depends on the publication du jour.
